A dear friend of mine recently fell in love with a man who makes her feel like a little girl. It is a new experience for her because she cannot remember the last time someone made her feel so self-conscious about herself.
I tried to remind her that the guy is probably not trying to do that, he may not even notice some of the things that she is so aware of, but it doesn’t change the fact that at thirty-something she has recaptured a moment of her youth that she thought was gone.
A simple kiss makes her dizzy and her knees weak. She subsconsciously finds herself primping and polishing during telephone calls on nights when they are not going to see each other and she spends hours day dreaming about him and a potential future.
I am thrilled that she found this guy, it sounds like fun. The kind of thing where time stands still when you are with that other person and you cannot help but drown in their presence. It is really kind of an intoxicating love where you can just sit on the couch and say nothing, yet remain content with the silence, no awkwardness is required.
But being female she does miss a few things that men see. We love to see the look on a woman’s face when she is happy. Watching our reflection in your happy eyes makes us feel happy and secure. There are emotions that lie deep beneath the surface, just because he does not always say what is on his mind, do not forget that.
And because this is my blog and my thoughts I am an advocate of letting a woman let him feel like a man. We revel in it. Traditional roles do not equate with inequality, sometimes they just mean allowing us to reveal and share our areas of expertise.

Happy to provide a smile for those who need one. And yes, I am in Los Angeles, unless the rain makes us all float away. It is really coming down now.

It’s been a long time since I was impressed enough with anyone to feel like your friend does. I miss those butterflies, and want them back. But dangnabit if those little varmints aren’t the devil to recapture in a jar…
